Our boarding facility

In the event your pet has to spend the night away from home for any period of time, we offer year round boarding at McKinney Animal Hospital. Our boarding facility provides a safe and clean environment to make your companion’s visit enjoyable and worry free. All pets that board with us must be current on vaccinations and dogs must also be current on the fecal test. Dog vaccinations required are annual Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvovirus (or titers), current Rabies, and bi-annual Bordetella. Cat vaccinations required are current FVRCP and Rabies. All pets that are found to have fleas on them are treated immediately upon their arrival to limit any fleas’ spread through our facility.

For our canine guests, we offer both indoor kennels and large indoor runs. A stay in our boarding facility includes at least three leash walk exercise sessions per day in one of our two grassy backyards, fresh water, and food. Our canine guests are fed a high quality diet called Science Diet Maintenance. Home diets are welcome and recommended to limit stress to your pet. All dogs staying for more than one night will receive a complimentary bath so they are fresh and clean and ready to collect lots of hugs and kisses on your return.

Our feline guests are housed in a separate feline kennel during their stay. Their quiet surroundings allow them to enjoy a “cat nap,” a long scratch behind the ear, and all of the attention given them by our Animal Care Attendants. Your cat’s stay will include cat litter changed twice daily, fresh water and food. Our feline guests are fed a high quality prescription diet called Science Diet Maintenance. Home diets are welcome and recommended to limit stress during your cat’s stay with us.

What you should know about boarding your pet

At McKinney Animal Hospital, we love your pets too! We realize that you can’t always take your pet with you when you leave home, and we strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment they can recognize as their “home away from home.” We treat every pet as though it was our very own!

Our Animal Care Attendants specialize in providing the kind of individual care that helps your pet to adapt to and enjoy their temporary environment. We understand that most cats and dogs thrive on their daily routine and so we make every effort to imitate their routine during their stay at MAH. In addition, we closely monitor you pet’s food and water consumption, weight, eliminations, attitude, and behavior during their stay.

Should we observe any changes that may indicate that your pet is in need of medical attention, our medical staff will assess and provide whatever additional care may be needed. You can enjoy your time away from home, confident with the knowledge that your pet is receiving the best of care during their stay.
